Welcome to Houghtoonz!
Week of September 19th, 2011 -
Okay, so it hasn't been a week since my last posting, but a month is better than several months, yes? So those of you who actually are looking to hear new music from me will be satisfied immediately. I've just finished a song (or I think it's finished, you tell me...) about materialism called "Better Homes & Gardens". Give it a listen and, as always, let me know what you think at rob@houghtoonz.com.
As far as new music on the horizon, in case you didn't know, in addition to writing music I am a high school teacher. Our 2011-12 year has just started, hence I'm chock-a-block with preparing lesson plans, etc... and although I'm keeping my toes in the composer's pool, I'm not going to make any big splashes in the near future. How was that, English Department?
That being said, please, please check in often, I do have some bits here and there ready for uploading and will continue to post on a more regular basis for your musical entertainment. Cheers - Rob

The months have passed and you may think that I've just given up on writing music. Well, that couldn't be farther from the truth. I've actually been very busy writing 'commercial' music for Audio Jungle in the hopes that I would sell some of my music. Well, that hasn't happened yet, but I've learned quite a bit about what goes into making accessible music and after my lobotomy, I should be ready to crank out the tunes.
That being said, I have just uploaded a new song to the ADD page, I hope you like it, it's called Fallen Fools. And don't forget to check out the Alternative Deficit Disorder page, the Themes page and the Ringtones pages.

Well, well, well, it has been a while, my friends. I hope you had a great holiday season and haven't been too daunted by the weather. If you live in my neck of the woods; the US Northeast; you were very happy to see the thermometer rise above freezing long enough to melt alot of the snow that's piled up over the last few weeks.
Along with the ground, I'll start to become apparent once again. I've been working hard on creating some new music and I hope that you'll like it. In addition, I've put some of my songs up on iTunes for purchase. Just search iTunes for Pylo The Pylon. This week's offering is Rick McLightning; a song inspired by Seananners' MineCraft video about an inspirational pig.

I am very tired...I've had little time to do what I like to do and hence...I'M CRABBY! So, please don't take this personally, I'm actually thankful to have a place to rant. Arrrrrrrrrrrgh! Ok, I'm better now. I've got a new song for y'all, it's here! ENJOY and good night!

I'm a baaaaaaaad boy! I've not put anything new up for more than two weeks. Because of that, I am going to provide you with two tunes this week. One is covered in cobwebs and the other couldn't be newer (written last weekend). I hope you enjoy both. Cheers!
Oh, and one last thing...I intend to have a message board up and running wihtin the month, so keep you eyes peeled for that and other developments.

Sorry I skipped a week, I was encumbered by Imperial Entanglements, I've since taken care of business and the music still flows. Today's tune is an instrumental, hope you like it.

ADD has several songs in the oven about ready to be served but for this week we've brought out a fine, aged cheese of a tune called Petty 4's, a jazz/techno instrumental. Hope you like it!
I have to apologize that I'm a bit distracted, Conan O'Brien's new show is on the tube right now and although I'm recording it on all three of our DVR's, I'm inclined to watch it as it streams through basic cable. So, see you next week!

First off, I want to apologize to my listeners for not providing you with a new song last week. I have no good reason for doing so; as I've told many of my students "reasons are the icing on the turd" - meaning, regardless of what you say kept your from making good on your commitments, the reality is that you've not gotten the job done. I think that one becomes more effective and most certainly more reliable when one lives by such guidelines.
So without any further explanation, please make your way to ADD's page and give a listen to "Stones". It's an epic song with a lot of juicy bits. I hope you like it.

As I'm writing this, I'm listening to an interview with Jethro Tull discussing the making of 'Thick As A Brick'. For those of you who don't know the album, suffice it to say that it is a Progressive Rock classic and has rarely been equalled in the almost 40 years since its release. In addition, it is basically a one track album (two if you factor in the disc flip for the old vinyl LP version) that rather seamlessly flows through fourty two minutes of brilliant, continuous music.
That being said, the reason I mention this is that Ian Anderson recalls that it took approximately EIGHT DAYS to record!!! Not eight weeks, months or years which is not unheard of these days, but EIGHT FRIGGING DAYS!!! (excuse the language). I don't know if this kind of thing can happen these days but it would be nice if some of our more precious artists would step it up. PRODUCE! PRODUCE!
In line with that approach to creativity, please visit the song page for a newly added song: "Your Butt" and Ringtone page for a new ringtone: "Tull Shuffle"! Cheers!

Okay, I like rhyming. In fact, I like rhyming so much that my two favorite teams are the New York Mets and the New York Jets. My penchant for rhyming does not stop at that, I like my pets and my dad was one of many World Ward II vets. I also like to pay off my debts, I like the movie "As Good As It Gets" and I've helped make theatrical sets and I've only date or married brunettes. Unfortunately, I don't like the New Jersey Nets and THAT'S IT!

I am a huge fan of the Twit Network. Started by Leo Laporte of Tech Tv fame, it features an ever growing lineup of shows. Recently, I've become very fond of the Fourcast podcast. It features the two hosts Tom Merritt and Scott Johnson and two guests who assemble to discuss their predictions for both the near, far and outlandishly far future. The concepts and discussions that eminate from this forum are both hilarious and stimulating. I've often found myself thinking about some of the ideas presented in the show for days afterward.
Along with This Week In Tech (the TWIT in TWIT), This Week In Google, Mac Break Weekly, Windows Weekly and many other Podcasts; I find myself just peeking into network and cable television; focusing mainly on Leo Laporte's bill of fare.
Thanks for visiting, and come back soon, the songs are rotated every week so a new one will be added and one will be removed so keep coming and eventually you'll get all of the songs currently being offered by ADD. Oh, I almost forgot, I've also whipped up a bunch of original ringtones and themes so help yourself to those too. Oh, and ONE LAST THING! friend me on Facebook to keep on top of updates to the site!
